Stripe payment notifications where your team already talks

The sound in your browser tab is for you. It does nothing for the co-founder in another timezone, the fulfilment team, or the two people who joined last month and have never seen a Stripe login.

Team alerts fan the same event out to a channel. One incoming webhook URL is the entire setup, and from then on every successful Stripe payment posts in Slack or Discord at the same moment it rings in your tab.

What actually gets posted

๐Ÿ”” Cha-ching! $49.00 payment from ChaChing Alerts

๐Ÿ”” Cha-ching! โ‚ฌ120.00 payment [test] from ChaChing Alerts

That is the whole message. Amount, currency, and a test label when the payment came from Stripe test mode. There is no customer name, no email address, no product, no card detail and no link into your Stripe account, which is what makes it safe to post in a channel the whole company can read.

How to set up Stripe alerts in Slack or Discord

  1. 1

    Create the incoming webhook

In Slack, add an incoming webhook to the channel you want. In Discord, open the channel settings and create a webhook. Both give you one URL that posts into that channel and nothing else.
  2. 2

    Paste it into settings

Drop the URL into the alerts field on your dashboard. Only genuine Slack and Discord webhook URLs over HTTPS are accepted, so a typo fails immediately rather than silently going nowhere.
  3. 3

Watch the first payment arrive twice

Once as a sound in your tab, once in the channel. The delivery status is shown in the dashboard, so you can see it worked rather than assuming. The setup guide covers the Stripe side if you have not connected an account yet.

Delivery that admits when it failed

Team chat providers rate limit, go down, and occasionally accept a message and lose it. The delivery path here is built for that rather than pretending it does not happen.

  • Automatic retries with backoff, starting at 30 seconds and stopping after eight attempts, so a brief outage sorts itself out.
  • Rate limits respected. A Retry-After header from Slack or Discord is honoured instead of hammering the endpoint.
  • Visible status. Pending, delivered and failed are all shown in the dashboard, and a failed delivery can be retried by hand.
  • No channel pings. Discord messages disable mentions, so nothing in an amount can turn into an at-everyone.

Delivery is at-least-once, so a crash after the provider accepted a message can in rare cases produce a duplicate. That is the honest trade for never dropping one.

Works alongside the rest of it

Team alerts are included in the $4.49/month plan along with the full-screen sales display and the monthly goal bar. Teams that use all three tend to put the display on a wall, the goal in the channel topic, and the sound wherever the owner sits.

Frequently asked questions

What does a Stripe payment alert look like in Slack?
One line per payment: a bell, the words Cha-ching, the amount with its currency, and where it came from. Test mode payments are labelled as test so nobody mistakes a sandbox charge for real money. There is no customer name, email or card detail, because none of that is ever stored.
How do I connect a Slack or Discord channel?
Create an incoming webhook in Slack, or a channel webhook in Discord, and paste the URL into settings. Slack URLs look like hooks.slack.com/services/... and Discord URLs like discord.com/api/webhooks/..., and anything else is rejected rather than quietly stored.
What happens if Slack or Discord is down when a payment lands?
The delivery is queued and retried with backoff, up to eight attempts, and a Retry-After header from the provider is honoured. Nothing is dropped silently: the delivery status is visible in your dashboard, and you can retry a failed one by hand.
Will it ping the whole channel?
No. Discord messages are posted with mentions disabled, so an amount that happens to contain an at sign or a role name cannot turn into a channel ping. It is a notification, not an interruption.
Is one channel per Stripe account possible?
Alerts are configured per account, and each connected Stripe account carries its own label in the message, so a single channel can carry several businesses and still be readable.
